Accordingly, the structure of Vietnam’s tuna exported products in January 2021 as follows: Fresh/frozen/dried tuna products (HS code 03 except HS code 0304) accounted for 10%, export value in January increased by 110% over the same period in 2020; Tuna of HS code 0304 accounted for 51% of the tuna export structure, the value increased by 4% over the same period; Canned tuna products (HS code 16) accounted for 32%, increasing by 50% in value over the same period; Other processed tuna accounted for 7% of the tuna exports, down by 63% in value in January 2021 compared to the same period in 2020.
In January, Vietnamese tuna products were exported to 77 markets around the world. In which, the top 5 tuna import markets of Vietnam were the US, Canada, Italy, Japan, and Egypt. Specifically, the value of export to the US market reached 14.1 million USD, down by 10% compared to the same period of 2020; to Canada market got 2.7 million USD, up by 51%; to Italy market recorded 2.4 million USD, increasing by 141%; to Japanese market reached 2 million USD, down by 10%; Egypt market reached 1.7 million USD, up by 159%.
